Founded in 1967, but the tradition of boxing clubs in Abingdon
goes back much further than that, and one day this site will show of
fuller history of this tradition.
The boxing club has produced champions, and professional boxers.
It is open to all, and is dedicated to youth training and
competition.
It is a well established and highly respected boxing club which
gives the youth of Abingdon and the Vale of the White Horse the
chance to learn boxing.
Mohammed Ali used to visit a council estate on the nearby Saxton
Road in Abingdon to visit a life long supporter, Paddy Monaghan. The
spirit of such boxing heroes inspires those wishing to go to the
next level and build a new gym.
